The Self-Care Vibe Check 🤗

Let's get real: your mental health is your biggest flex. It's the foundation for you.

When your mind is doing good, everything else gets easier. It’s not just about avoiding bad feelings; it’s about feeling strong, balanced, and ready to take on the world.

So what goes hand in hand with your mental health? Self-care ❤️

Self-care is basically checking in with yourself and making sure you're good - physically, mentally, and emotionally. It means finding healthy ways to figure out what you need and then actually doing it. Everyone needs it, it's not selfish at all, and what works for you might be different from your friends.

There are different ways to practice self-care:

💪 Body Check-in (Physical): This is about keeping your body healthy, like making sure you move around.

🧠 Mood Boost (Emotional): Help your feelings by doing things like journaling to figure out what's going on in your head, or mindful colouring to help you switch off, especially if you’re feeling overwhelmed.

💬 Squad Goals (Social): Level up your social life by hanging out with people you care about, and who care about you.

🫶 Inner Vibe (Spiritual): Connect with the stuff that truly matters to you.

How to Be Kinder to Yourself (Self-Compassion)

To be kinder to yourself, try these daily tricks:

Hype Yourself Up (Affirmations) 💬

Use positive statements to shut down any negative self-talk. Try phrases like "I can do this," "I am amazing," or "I believe in me". You can write them out and put them where you'll see them, like on your mirror.

Write It Out (Journaling) ✍️

This helps you reflect and get your feelings out. You could use prompts like:

  • What's my mood today?

  • What do I actually need right now?

  • How can I get what I need?

Find the Wins (Gratitude) 🥇

Focusing on the good stuff in your life can make you feel more self-compassionate. Try listing a few things you're thankful for and why or one thing you like about yourself today:

  • My pet

  • My snuggly blanket

  • My friends at school or college

  • The sunshine

  • One thing I like about myself today is...
