Webinar:
The Weight of Waiting

In case you missed it, catch-up on the recording of the webinar, as we shared practical, real‑world insights from services improving access, flow, and early intervention.

Key highlights discussed included:

  • Early intervention is essential. Over half of mental health conditions present before age 14, and without timely support, can become lifelong, relapsing conditions.

  • Digital early intervention is proving effective, but must be integrated and not a bolt-on. When embedded into pathways, they support early access, prevention, step‑up/step‑down care, and help reduce pressure on specialist services.

  • Confidence and perception matter. The importance of building trust in digital models among families, clinicians, and system partners is essential.

  • System‑wide collaboration works. Regular communication between early‑help providers, CAMHS, digital partners, and commissioners has helped reduce waits, prevent escalation, and improve the experience for young people.

  • Self‑referral is a game‑changer. Removing GP bottlenecks and empowering families to access early help directly leads to faster support and reduced system pressure.
