Privacy Notice:
Hertfordshire Youth Mental Health Survey

We want to understand how mental health support for children and young people (CYP) in Hertfordshire can be made fairer and better for everyone. By sharing your thoughts, you are helping us improve local services.

1. Who we are

This survey is run by Mindler. We are the "Data Controller," which means we are responsible for looking after your information.

2. What we collect and why

We only ask for what we need. This includes:

  • Your thoughts: Your views on mental health services.

  • About you: Information like your age and ethnicity.

  • Your comments: Anything extra you choose to write in the boxes.

Our legal "labels": Under data protection law, we use "Legitimate Interests" to run this survey because it helps us improve health services. Because we ask about sensitive things like your health and ethnicity, we also need your "Explicit Consent." By ticking the box to start the survey, you are giving us permission to use your info.

3. Keeping it private and safe

  • Anonymity: We combine your answers with everyone else’s. When we write our report, no one will be able to tell which answers were yours.

  • Security: Your data is stored on secure servers and only the core project team can see it.

  • Timing: We only keep your individual survey answers for 18 months after the project ends. After that, they are deleted.

4. Your choices

  • It’s voluntary: You don’t have to take part, and saying "no" won’t affect your care or support in any way.

  • Changing your mind: You can withdraw your consent at any time by emailing us (see below). Just keep in mind that once we have mixed your answers into the final anonymous report, we can't "un-mix" them to delete them.

  • Age: If you are under 13, you must have a parent or guardian's permission to take part.

5. Your rights

You have the right to see the data we hold about you, ask us to fix mistakes, or ask us to delete it. If you aren't happy with how we use your data, you can complain to the ICO.
